What is the difference between a Intel Pentium 4 and a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology?

One is an Intel Pentium Mobile CPU 2.00GHz and the other one is a AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-56 operating at 1.80GHz . Which one is better and faster in a laptop right now i have the Intel Intel Pentium 4 it has a 512MB memory and a 120 GB Hard drive and i has trying to see if i should buy AMD Turion 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology with 2GB memory and a 120 GB i want to see how the two of them compare to each other and see which one is better for school i also want to buy the AMD because it is smaller and easier to take to school but if it is a down grade there is no point in buying it so please help me

1. if u multitask the amd will be better ... the intel will be better overall imo faster on single tasks and better on battery ... 512is low on memory though especially if its vista and even worse if there are integrated graphics .. so between the two i would go with the amd machine ..
2. To tell you the honest truth. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. The only thing that is "really" different is the amount of memory each system has in them.If AMD has a processor that has 1.80GHz and Pentium has 2.0 flat it means that AMDgot its competition from intel. Approximation is the only thing that is different. Intel approximated their 1.80 Dual core processor to 2.00001GHz, whereas AMD left their's at the actual speed. Intel fool their customers into believing that they r the best and that is business for ya horse!!! 1 And the multitasking in the AMD make no sense it does still stick.
3. The amd is a dual core(multi- tasking) cpu The pentium 4 is a single core. The dual core is the up grade in todays market and the memory in that lap top should also be faster ( also around 1gig or 2gig vrs 512 in the older lap) and with a faster front side bus , wireless should be built in and a better graphics card . I suggest you go to a retail store and check them out hands on before you decide on any computer purchased today (best buy, comp usa, fries elect.,circuit city) they all will let you try them out and you'll get a better idea of what your purchasing and be able to compare costs and brands as well.
