  1. Yes! When you're talking about going onto a new contract, it's only because they want their commission.
  2. I find people in these shops look about 11....and make fun of my requirement to make phone calls.....and snigger when they tell me I can download all my 'Elvis' tracks!
  3. there on commision
  4. they really get on my nerves ( sorry to the nice ones) you know what you want , go in there and get told it is no good and then they try and sell you something you do not want but they get comission on The best way to do it is to go on somewhere like carphone warehouse website or the company you want to go with and look through them yourself, pick a phone that has everything you want then either go into that shop in person and ask for a discount as such a place has it cheaper or if it is already reduced on the web buy it online and cut them out totally, Or get your own back by letting them show you every phone they want to push on you then after an hour say " no thanks I prefer the one I wanted in the first place"
  5. I agree with all of you except you do get the odd one or two who are brilliant like the one who served me yesterday. He was very helpful and as we were in their for 1 hour he was keeping us happy making us laugh.
  6. Im not pushy, i work in a mobile phone shop and hate it when people try and push a particular phone onto a customer, by the way, we arnt on commission, we get a weekly wage and no more which i think works best as members of staff arnt pushing to meet targets or make an extra couple of quid! If a customer comes in to me with a phone in mind that they want then thats the only phone I show them, of course if we dont have it i would say "have you seen this one?" if they arnt interested then i help them by suggesting a shop where they might be able to buy it eg. Carphone warehouse.
  7. Hahaha. Good Q. Definitely Pushy! I once went into P4U and asked if they had a particular smartphone as I use my phone primarily for emails & internet and obviously chat on the phone. In addition, I needed a phone with a QWERTY keyboard for the email as the standard 12 button keypad isn't sufficient for emails. I'd also told the guy that I don't SMS as it's cost inefficient. Anyway, to cut a long story short; the sales guy tried to sell me a mobile phone which didn't even meet my basic requirements for emails. To make me even more furious, I told him I'd only want to spend less than what I am currently spending on the monthly tariff, he recommends a tariff which is even more expensive because of the unlimited internet data (capped at 120Mb... so call UNLIMITED!!!) hahaha. And how believes a sales guy who isn't on sales commission?
